چکیده

In this paper we propose a new approach for the generation of visual scales for the visualization of scalar and multivariate data. Based on the speci cation of only a few correspondences between the data set and elements of a space of visual representations complex visualization mappings are produced. The foundation of this approach is the introduction of a multidimensional space of visual representations. The mapping between these spaces can be de ned by approximating or satisfying the user de ned relations between data values and visual atributes.

A Toolbox to Visualize Dense Image Correspondences (Stereo Disparities & Optical Flow)

Today many different algorithms to estimate optical flow or stereo correspondences between images are published. This makes visualization of the results in a comparable fashion an important issue. The first evaluation of an algorithm is always visually, to ensure that the estimated correspondence field approximates the intuitively expected pixel displacement. As a second step, usually some comp...

A new approach for data visualization problem

Data visualization is the process of transforming data, information, and knowledge into visual form, making use of humans’ natural visual capabilities which reveals relationships in data sets that are not evident from the raw data, by using mathematical techniques to reduce the number of dimensions in the data set while preserving the relevant inherent properties. In this paper, we formulated d...

Visual mapping: a tool for design, development and communication in the development of IT-rich learning environments

Visual representations have long been advocated by educators as cognitive tools to enhance student learning. However, visual mapping of concepts and ideas are also part of the design and development tools of graphic and interface designers (drawings and sketches), media producers (story boards), and programmers (flow charts). In higher education settings, the use of visual representations that ...

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore brain function: cortical representations of language critical areas

Pre-operative determination of the dominant hemisphere for speech and speech associated sensory and motor regions has been of great interest for the neurological surgeons. This dilemma has been of at most importance, but difficult to achieve, requiring either invasive (Wada test) or non-invasive methods (Brain Mapping). In the present study we have employed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging...

UNDERSTANDING WHAT MACHINE LEARNING PRODUCES Part II: Knowledge visualization techniques

Researchers in machine learning use decision trees, production rules, and decision graphs for visualizing classification data. Part I of this paper surveyed these representations, paying particular attention to their comprehensibility for non-specialist users. Part II turns attention to knowledge visualization—the graphic form in which a structure is portrayed and its strong influence on compre...
